What is a TSA Lock?

TSA (Travel Sentry Approved) originally developed a lock system which allows passengers to lock their luggage, while permitting airport security authorities to inspect them without damage, by using special tools and codes, and re-lock afterwards. They now licence their design to other manufacturers to produce the locks.

The locks are identifiable with the TSA logo and are available in either combination or key locking options. Either option will have a code prefixed with "TSA" near the key hole (I.e. TSA007). This code corresponds to a matching master key that the TSA authorities hold to open the lock.

Unfortunately the TSA code does not relate to the "user" key or combination for ordering extra or lost keys.
